Our Story

A thousand vines, planted by hand.

Ken and Kimm Schick traded a rural New Jersey that was vanishing under development for a quiet 200-acre dairy farm in Fultonville — not far from the Finger Lakes. They planted their first thousand vines by hand and waited out the three to four years it takes for young vines to mature into a real crop.

The first vintage was a success, with Ken following his German ancestors' knack for wine and spirits. By the end of the 2010 season they had New York State approval, and Hummingbird Hills became the first active winery in Montgomery County. Today Ken and Kimm tend 22,000 vines across a 26-acre vineyard, and proudly pour for guests from across the Capital Region and well beyond.

“You have to have a passion for it, like any other farmer. We grow the product and create it here.”

Escape from the Normal

Twenty-six wines, made right here

Grapes from the land you can see around the winery, plus locally sourced fruit — fermented with as little preservative as possible so the fruit speaks for itself. Call 518-875-6919 or text 908-319-0980 to reserve bottles and pick them up on the farm.
